Poultry Acronyms

Poultry Acronyms

After racking my brain trying to figure out what all the acronyms were on a chicken forum I visited recently, I decided to make a page and add all the definitions I could find here in alphabetical order. Enjoy.

Please leave any you see missing in a comment below or send them to me via our CLUCK CLUCK or contact page. Please feel free to make a copy for yourself. If you’d like to post this on your site, I just ask that you link to this page for me. Thanks so much.

I went through the thread on BYC and Couldn’t find a few They refer to the quality of the bird and showing. There is BOB and PQ and SQ, but what are the others. DQ, BQ. I’m thinking BQ is breeder quality but DQ has me confused. And the show abbreviations are a myster to me.

I’m trying to learn and breed show quality silkies. There is alot to learn as it is then when I get advice they toss in those abbreviations and when I ask I do’t get answered. Could you help?

  2. admin says:

Thanks for your question. To my knowledge the DQ means the the bird does not qualify.
    I hope that helps.
